OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo Vacuum Up February VC Dollars

Just-released Crunchbase data says February’s venture market was a one-company show. $189 billion in global capital moved, and $171 billion of it went directly into AI. More surprising—the wave was powered almost entirely by three players: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Waymo.
OpenAI alone pulled in $110 billion at a $730 billion valuation, dwarfing anything we have seen outside of sovereign wealth. Anthropic added another $30 billion to reach $380 billion, and Waymo’s $16 billion round pushed the self-driving contender to a $126 billion valuation. Three checks now equal 83% of last month’s worldwide venture spend.
For operators in construction, aviation, public safety, and state government, this concentration is the real story. General-purpose AI stacks are hoarding capital so they can deliver compute, models, and copilots at impossible scale. Everyone downstream must decide whether to rent their capabilities from those giants or build defensible layers that sit closer to their domain data.
Hitman Technologies is not trying to outspend OpenAI, but we are using their pace to our advantage. When infrastructure centralizes, the edge has to specialize. We build agents that plug into proprietary telemetry, run on disciplined governance, and prove ROI in weeks—not years. That is how our clients keep capital focused on the workflows that differentiate them.
The February spike is also a warning shot. When 90% of global VC dollars chase AI, every other category becomes a seller’s market for efficiency. Budgets are being recut to fund automation, telemetry, and resilience programs that can ride on top of foundation models. Standing still guarantees margin erosion.
If you are planning 2026 budgets, treat this as the moment to harden your AI roadmap. Decide which workloads should be offloaded to hyperscale partners and which should be rebuilt with agents that live inside your org chart. Hitman Technologies can map that split and give your board a plan that matches the new capital reality.
